About us

Founded by farmers, built for everyone

Proven technology, trusted relationships and leading insight for the supply chain

Why we're here

The supply chain has had enough disruption. It needs backing.

Weather, war and markets shake farming every season. The last thing it needs is another startup promising to tear up how it works.

So we don't. We build proven technology that fits the way trades already happen. We put trusted relationships at the centre of every deal, because that is how farming has always worked. And we turn what happens on Hectare into leading insight, so the next decision is a better one.

Hectare was created by farmers, for farmers. Two of the three founders farm, and the rest of us spend enough time on farms to know when we have got something wrong.

Our values

How we work

A weathered field gate and its iron latch at dusk, sheep out of focus in the field beyond
Put farmers first
We always put farmers first, listen to their needs, and advocate for their success. We build trust through strong relationships and deliver real results that help them grow. Staying true to our farming roots keeps us focused and grounded as we move forward.

Grab the bull by the horns
We make decisions like owners, we hustle and act fast. We tend to our crops, going the extra mile for our products, our customers and our team. We make things happen with speed and urgency to harvest opportunities and drive our success.

Plough ahead together
We care – a 29-tonne truckload – about working together to build a strong team and successful company. Transparency is key; we share feedback and insights openly and with candour. Nothing thrives in isolation, so we're committed to sharing our ideas and learnings. Together, we grow stronger and accomplish more.
Our story

From a phone call in a farm office

The idea for Hectare began on a cool evening in 2015, when Jamie McInnes called in at his father-in-law's farm office and found him on the phone, trying to get prices for his grain.
